BADA to launch online auctions

BADA (The British Antique Dealers’ Association) is set to enter the online auctions arena with the launch of its own platform, BADA Auctions, in mid-July.

The Association said that it aims to differentiate itself from other market players by cutting through red tape and charges, allowing buyers and collectors to be able to bid without paying buyer premiums, while dealers are spared the expense of cataloguing costs and buy-in fees.

Marco Forgione, BADASpeaking about the forthcoming auctions, BADA CEO Marco Forgione said, “BADA Auctions offers an incredible opportunity for buyers and collectors. The key benefits are buyers and collectors are protected by consumer legislation and they have the reassurance that BADA has rigorous membership vetting and a stringent Code of Conduct. There are no hidden fees or costs, and BADA will not charge any buyers’ premium.”

He continued, “Our ambition is to help BADA members reach new audiences to showcase the exceptional quality, craftsmanship and diversity of their objects. BADA Auctions will give our members international promotion and enable them to build a direct relationship with new buyers and collectors throughout the world.

The platform will feature a rich diversity of objects of fine art and antiques, all sourced from BADA’s members. Buyers will have the protection of consumer legislation, the organisation’s own Code of Conduct and its independent arbitration service in case of any dispute.

A comprehensive international marketing and promotion campaign for BADA Auctions will begin next month.
