Cartier diamonds lead sale

Cartier diamond ear clipsA pair of 1930’s Cartier diamond ear clips led a set of impressing results at Lincolnshire auction house Batemans’ recent sale when they sold for a hammer price of £27,000.

From the collection of Major-General Arthur Hay DSO OBE, each clip from the pair totaled over three carats in terms of diamond weight. Their art deco design, colour and match of the stones meant that bidders in the room, on the telephone and online pushed them over their pre-sale estimate of £8,000 to eventually hammer at £27,000.

Other highlights in the sale included:

An eye-catching bar brooch, set with seven diamonds and six toned sapphires with a total diamond weight of approximately 4.5ct it sold for £2,800.
