We spent a highly enjoyable day at the IACF’s Ardingly International Fair recently, joining the thousands who flock to the two-day event in the hope of hunting out something unusual.
With dealers from across the UK joining those who’ve travelled from further afield, including Belgium, Holland and France, the site’s walkways take you through a combination of stalls, marquees, pitches and indoor stands.
All in all it’s a real browser’s paradise, and a veritable smorgasbord of antiques, collectables and vintage finds. Popular with dealers, interior designers and home-owners wanting to snap up the rarefied, unusual and strikingly quirky, just about any demand is well-catered for with a breath-taking array of items. And the list is endless: dentist’s chairs, stuffed boar’s heads, silver cocktail shakers, Dutch pine settles, Art Deco sideboards, classic film posters, tribal art, industrial lockers, Rococo clocks…
In between soaking up the atmosphere, chatting the dealers and relishing all the wonderful things to see, we snapped a few pics of our day out that give a small flavour of the Fair. If you’re a regular, we’d love to hear your stories about the event in the comments below!
