Diamond ring sells for over a million in Birmingham

 

Graff diamond three quarterA Fancy Intense Yellow Diamond Ring has sold for £1,307,600 (with buyer’s premium) at Birmingham auction house, Fellows.

The 43.59 carat Fancy Intense Yellow radiant-cut VS2 diamond was set between two white tapered diamond shoulders at 1.62 carats in total. This significant yellow diamond was the centre-piece of an exquisite ring created by Graff Diamonds.

After furious bidding across two phone lines and in the room, the hammer went down at £1.1M. Including buyer’s premium at 23% (plus VAT), the ring sold for £1,307,600.

Alexander Whittaker, a spokesperson for Fellows said, “This breaks another house record for us. I’ve also been reliably informed that this is also the top price paid in the UK for a regional auction house this year, and the first seven-figure bid from a regional saleroom since 2012.”

She continued, “We are delighted with this result. It was a privilege to sell such an important jewel here in Birmingham’s historic and world renowned Jewellery Quarter.”
