Ones to watch at Ewbanks

High-quality timepieces from Rolex, Cartier and Tiffany look set to be the ones to watch at Ewbank’s ‘Jewellery, Silver and Watches’ sale next month.

Emma Reeves, the auction house’s watch specialist, says, “Watches are an intriguing area, as they require knowledge of the brands and rarity of models, as well as insight into previous gems – particularly for the antique cocktail watches we see in the auction room. Particular makers might treble the price for a Victorian pocket watch, and a rare watch such as an early diver or pilot can get worldwide attention from keen bidders.”

A stainless steel Cartier Tank Francaise bracelet watch carries a pre-sale estimate of between £1,000 and £1,500She continues, “Some of the top brands have many imitators, some of which are very obvious, whereas others can be extremely good copies. We are extremely diligent when it comes to valuing items for sale or insurance purposes.”

Among lots of note are a stainless steel Cartier ‘Tank Francaise’ bracelet watch which carries a pre-sale estimate of between £1,000 and £1,500. It has a silver dial with Roman numerals and inner minute track, secret signature at VII, and quartz movement. It was made circa 2003, reference 2465, and the face is 30mm by 25mm. It comes with box and papers.

Made circa 2000, it has a champagne-coloured dial and Roman numerals, date aperture at 3 and a yellow gold president bracelet, and comes with paperwork.

A ladies Jaeger LeCoultre gold and diamond watch made circa 1980Another high-value watch on sale is a ladies’ Jaeger LeCoultre gold and diamond watch, made circa 1980, which has been estimated at between £1,200 and £1,800. It has a silvered dial with applied baton hour markers, polished baton hour and minute hands. It has an 18ct white gold case with round single-cut diamond set bezel, and integral textured 18 ct white gold bracelet.

Princess cut diamond ring weighing 3.41 caratsAmongst the jewellery lots is an eye-catching Princess-cut diamond ring, weighing 3.41 carats, in a bezel setting with a tapered baguette to each shoulder. It is mounted in white metal, which tested as 18ct. The ring is accompanied by an International Diamond Report stating the diamond to be of K colour and VS1 clarity. It is estimated at between £10,000 and £15,000.

Fans of world-famous jewellers Tiffany and Co are sure to be interested in a diamond cross pendant and a diamond full eternity ring which have been consigned for sale.

The diamond cross pendant is set with 11 round brilliant-cut diamonds in a claw setting which are mounted in 18ct yellow gold on a gold chain. It is signed Tiffany & Co 750 and comes in a Tiffany box. It has been valued at between £2,000 and £3,000.

The Tiffany and Co diamond full eternity ring, set with round brilliant-cut diamonds in a channel setting mounted in platinum, carries an estimate of between £2,000 and £3,000. The estimated total diamond weight is 2.00cts.

Ewbank’s sale takes place on November 30th.
