Saturday sales for Cottees

Poole-based auction house, Cottees is breaking with tradition and starting regular Saturday sales from this weekend.

The first general sale will include items ranging from furniture and jewellery to silver. While the auction house has been holding sales every Tuesday for decades, the Saturday sales will be a new venture.

Senior auctioneer John Condie said: “Our first Saturday auction will be held on August 6, and it promises to be an interesting and exciting one with a specialist section of vinyl records and rock and pop memorabilia, including a full set of Beatles autographs obtained by the vendor backstage at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1964.”

Cottees recently moved into new premises and is also aiming to launch a range of specialist sales in autumn, including fine jewellery, 20th century decorative arts, vintage and designer handbags.

Today the company is at the forefront of the British auction scene – holding the largest auctions of Poole Pottery in the country, and ranked among the top five for collectable toys and model railways.

John said: “We are looking forward to a new era in the long history of Cottees Auctions, and with the possibility of a continuing heatwave we will be giving away free soft drinks at our first auction on Saturday 6th August.”
