The first Vintage Jewellery & Accessories auction of 2016 for Fellows is offering not one but two Hermes Birkin bags (left) in their auction. These iconic styles have estimates between £4,000- 6,500.
Harper’s Bazaar suggested recently that a Birkin bag could well be a safer bet that gambling on the stock market or investing in gold, with the famous accessory increasing in value by 14.2% each year since 1980, according to a study by Baghunter.
Interest in all things Scandinavian, and in particular jewellery, shows no sign of waning, so the Georg Jensen pieces in the sale look certain to prove popular. Scottish jewellery also features heavily in vintage jewellery auctions at Fellows, with pieces such as lot 181 (left), a late Victorian gold Scottish agate set brooch (£200-300). There are also popular banded agate bead necklaces in this auction on 25th January.
